In 2007 (CTD) correctional Employees youth group was established as a CDCR employee's community's youth group.
This nonprofit youth organization is CDCR employees direct community relations effort to assist our community's at risk youths, an extend our law enforcement professionalism within our communities, allowing correctional personnel to utilize there massive communication experience gained through their working environment and apply it to the California unified school districts to assist students/families in need.
These are the same kids and students that we received within the California Department of corrections as inmates, once we receive them we put them in educational programs, trying to assist them to earn a high school diploma. We teach them how to read and write. And they keep focused while in school, as we prepared them for reintegration back to the community.
We have taken responsibility of our law-enforcement profession and transferred it directly to our California school system partnering with SARB.
Providing access directly to students who have been identified by the unified school district education system administrators to meet the standards to graduate on time and earn a high school diploma.
CTD purpose is to break the school-to-prison pipeline through partnership an collaboration with community nonprofit groups- and the California unified school districts.
These valuable experience, knowledgeable, correctional professionals Retirees has a lifetime of people/community communication skills an involvement with assisting a community -
they have earned this power through their daily work as law-enforcement officers throughout a lengthy Career.
these are the retirees/active duty employees who impact behavior for a positive change In any communities that they are serving,
we have thousands of hours of stories that’s been personally shared with our individual employees about where, when, incarcerated felons went wrong and end up in the system. We want to share our power with those in need, our community School age youths, that’s our audience and our community.
It is with these skills, from this group of dedicated professionals that we will change via positive impact an entire community of our youth,
In partnership with other resource specialist groups, within California Unified school districts, Students Attendance Review Board (SARB)
The correctional employees youth group Board Of Directors are made up of three or more-retired prison wardens, a representative from the unified school district and several retired correctional personnel from various classifications.
CTD volunteer pool consists of retired, active duty & current employees of CDCR. Our volunteers participate in statewide school board hearings various districts addressing behavior and attendance concerns with students and their parents
these experience and experts professionals are given their souls & time to direct some positive intervention to assist/prevent these kids from entering the criminal justice system.
In 1974, the Legislature enacted California Education Code (EC) Section 48320 to enhance the enforcement of compulsory education laws to divert students with school attendance or behavior problems from the juvenile justice system until all available resources have been exhausted.
EC Section 48321 provides several organizational structures for School Attendance Review Boards (SARB) at the local and county California schools level to create a safety net for students with persistent attendance or behavior problems
